Libraries today offer much more than books, movies, and quiet spaces! Early literacy, play, and STEAM exploration are built into our birth–6 and tween spaces, so your family can enjoy the Library in new and exciting ways as you read, learn, connect, and create. We also have special, designated children's spaces at the Downtown Library, Ellettsville Branch, and Southwest Branch.

Our children's collection includes materials for ages birth-12 including board books, picture books, early readers, first chapter books, fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, audiobooks, playaways, DVDs, CDs, video games, toys for ages birth–4, Launchpads, storytime kits, and juvenile book club kits. We also have an extensive eLibrary collection! To learn more about how we choose materials, see our Collection Development Policy.

Discover free programs throughout the year for children ages birth–12. Check the event calendar for details on storytimes, STEAM activities, movies, and much more! We also host community events, such as the Santa on Sale Street, the Festival of Ghost Stories, and the Summer Reading Program, which combines weekly activities and special events to help children maintain their reading skills outside of school. We can also help you connect with other local youth organizations in our community that provide services and programming for children.
