Computer Basics - Bloomington

This class is intended for patrons that have no prior (or minimal) experience using a computer. In this class, patrons will learn about all of the parts of a computer, assess their current digital literacy, learn how to use a mouse, how to change desktop backgrounds and screensavers, and much more. There will also be time for patrons to ask specific questions about using a computer. Registration is required. (2 hours)

Microsoft Excel Basics - Bloomington

This is a popular spreadsheet application that allows users to keep track of budgets and finances, create charts, and organize information. Participants registering for this course should have at least basic computer skills, or take the basic computer course at the library.

Introduction to Facebook - Bloomington - CANCELED

This class will introduce participants to Facebook. We will cover the basics of Facebook: from setting up an account, to adding friends, to liking pages, and uploading pictures. In addition, participants will be shown how to use Facebook's timeline, and how to sort the news feed. Registrants must have an email account and have basic computer skills.

These topics and more will be covered in this brief overview of email intended for patrons that have at least some minimal past computer and Internet experience. We will be setting up email accounts with Gmail in this class. There will also be time for patrons to ask specific questions about email.

The class will provide some tips and tricks for job seekers, including a basic overview of the ways you can use the Web to enhance your resume-writing skills and create a resume that won't be easily overlooked. We'll look at available resume-building tools and templates, as well as some resources for job seekers. There will be time for you to ask questions specific to your job search. Attendees must have taken the computer basics class or have equivalent skills.
