Description:

The mission of the Monroe County Master Gardener Association is to promote the art, science, and pleasure of gardening in the community in cooperation with the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service. Certified Master Gardeners have completed a broad-based Horticulture volunteer training program as well as a minimum of 35 hours of volunteer service. Master Gardeners help others in the community grow by sharing their horticulture knowledge in a variety of ways.

  • Volunteers provide the community with information on gardening practices through workshops and presentations at garden clubs, school, and other community organizations.
  • The annual MCMGA Garden Fair held every spring features over 35 commercial and not-for-profit vendors, a family activity booth, plants sales and more.
  • Over the years, the MCMGA Community Grant program has awarded over $16,000 to numerous groups including schools, religious and community organizations, neighborhood associations, and historical locations throughout the county.
