Angelique's review of TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT ME by Randa Abdel-Fattah
Age: 12 Date: June 12, 2011
Why did you decide to read this book? Did a friend suggest it? Did it have an interesting cover? My sister and I were just wandering the young adult and the picture on the cover just caught my eye. Then I just wanted to know what it was about:-).
What is the story about?/What happened in the story? The story is about a Lebanese Muslim girl named Jamilah who feels like she doesn't fit in with the "in-crowd" just because of her culture. But later she realizes you have to be true to yourself first.
Who is your favorite character in the story? Why? Timothy, because he helped Jamilah realize the best person she can be is herself.
Why did you like this story? or Why did you not like this
story? It shows that person from any country, any continent, ANY PLANET can have just a great a life as anyone else.
Other thoughts or feelings about this story? Anything else to add? It helped see that not every Muslim is bad, but can generally just be normal people and have normal lives. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to find their inner voice.
This is a Young Adult Book and may be found upstairs in the YA section.
