Shay Upadhyay's review of Dizzy by Cathy Cassidy
Age:
10 Date:
June 12, 2011
Why did you decide to read this book? Did a friend suggest it? Did it have an interesting cover?
I decided to read this book because I was going on a long trip to London, and I needed some books to read. One was Dizzy because 1. It was the 3rd thickest book that looked interesting 2. The blurb looked good, and 3. I had read books by the author before. if you are interested, the other books I read were: The Princess Plot, Sincerely, and Beastly.
What is the story about?/What happened in the story?
The story is about a girl (Dizzy) who lives with her father and has not seen her mother for many years because when Dizzy was young her mom ran away with a gypsy. Every year she hears from her mom once. On her birthday. All she gets is a postcard, a letter, and sometimes a present. Finally, when she turns twelve and waits for something from her mom, nothing arrives. One day, when she comes home she finds her mother talking with her father in the living room Her mom offers to take her with her in her travellin van for a few weeks but her father said no. The next morning they left because Dizzy's mom said that her father had changed his mind. They travel and soon Dizzy begins to feel homesick so she writes to her father. Each time, Dizzy's mom says that she will mail it. Soon, Storm (Dizzy's mom) says that she will open a clinic in India. Dizzy decides to go home with her father. There are many other characters in this story, but I didnt write about them because I may give something away
Who is your favorite character in the story? Why?
Dizzy, because she is very kind and loving. She is understanding and can be stubborn. Most of all she is funny and crazy, like me.
Why did you like this story?
or Why did you not like this
story?
I liked this story because it made you feel as if you were there and you could feel Dizzy's feelings in what she does.
Other thoughts or feelings about this story? Anything else to add?
I love this story, and this is a good book for a rainy day. The author wrote another favourite of mine called "Scarlett."
