Molly Inman's review of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Taylor

Age: 11 Date: February 19, 2011

Why did you decide to read this book? Did a friend suggest it? Did it have an interesting cover?
I decided to read this book because one of my friends was reading it in their reading group, and when I heard about it it just sounded brilliant. I got the book from the library and had it finished in about three hours! Although the cover looked like it would just be really boring, it really was amazing. After all, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Can you?

What is the story about?/What happened in the story?
I don't want to give away too much of the story, in hopes that you will read read it. The basic topic of the book though is a nine year old girl's perspective of slavery, and what her family had to go through.

Who is your favorite character in the story? Why?
In this book my favorite character was Cassie, the main character, because even though she was black, she didn't let that stop her. She also was smart enough not to anything stupid to get herself in trouble, but she was daring at the same time.

Why did you like this story? or Why did you not like this story?
I really liked this story because it taught you about slavery, in a way that was appropriate for almost every age group.

Other thoughts or feelings about this story? Anything else to add?
