  • Type as much of the subject, division, and headline as you know.
    For example, a headline search for the term Auto would locate automobile, autosport, autopsy, autobiography, etc.
  • Selecting as much of a specific date as you know or a date range to your search will help narrow your search.
  • If you do not select any date(s), you will search the entire database.
  • You may insert the percent sign ( % ) in place of individual unknown letters.
    For example, the search term Aut%mobile would locate Automobile.

    Currently, the index includes articles from the Bloomington Herald-Times and the Herald-Telephone for the years 1985-2005.

    Guidelines for requesting photocopies of articles contained in the index:

    1. For our patrons outside of Monroe County, there is a minimum $10.00 charge for in-depth research. For fees for obituaries, see new guidelines. Photocopying fees may be applied to all queries.

    2. Send request via e-mail or write to us at The Indiana Room, Monroe County Public Library, 303 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington, IN 47408.

    3. Be sure to include the headline and date of the article along with your name and mailing address.
