In this class, participants will learn how to effectively search for a job using the Internet. We will explore area employer websites such as Indiana University, Ivy Tech, IU Health/Bloomington Hospital, Monroe Hospital, Herald Times, etc. In addition, we will explore some state and national job websites such as Indiana Career Connect, Craigslist, CareerBuilder, Monster, and Indeed. Registrants must have an email account and have basic computer skills.
This class will provide a basic overview of the types of information that is available via the Internet for patrons. We will cover everything from reading news, finding reliable sources of information, to how to decide on an Internet browser. Patrons should have basic computing skills (or take the computer basics class) prior to taking this class. There will also be time for patrons to ask specific questions about the Internet.
Interested in trying out Microsoft Office, but dont want to spend the money to buy it? Or, perhaps, you are interested in buying Photoshop but dont want to spend all the money? This program will show you free, open source software alternatives that work very similar to the real thing without all of the cost.
These one hour sessions are designed for you to ask any technology related questions you wish. You may ask questions regarding e-reading devices, library databases, specific software such as Microsoft Word or Excel, or anything else of interest to you. Two library staff members will be on hand to assist you with your technical questions.
This class is intended for patrons that have no prior (or minimal) experience using a computer. In this class, patrons will learn how to login to a computer at the library, how to use a mouse, how to change desktop backgrounds and screensavers, and much more. There will also be time for patrons to ask specific questions about using a computer.
