Creating Color: The History and Science of Color - Ellettsville

The T.C. Steele State Historic Site in Brown County celebrates local artists and comes to the branch to help teach us the history and science of color creation. A hands-on activity gets you creating colorful paint from items in and around your home. Then you use your own paint to create a work of art. Completed grades 3-6

Get hands-on with some science tricks and crafts. And if you dare, you can eat some of your creations. We play smeller's bingo and marbles run, and make Alka-Seltzer rockets and a spinning Thaumatrope toy. Mix your own soda to drink while sampling gross treats such as "boogers on a stick" and "owl barf balls." Completed grades K–6. Please register for one session: 10:30-11:30 a.m. -or- 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Coded Concoctions - Ellettsville

Snakehead Ed and Slithery Friends - Ellettsville

Snakehead Ed, (Ed Ferrer) is a retired, award winning middle school science teacher. His program feature snakes from Africa, Asia, Australia, and South and North America and starts with mid-sized species and ends with huge, beautiful boas and pythons. Participants will find that the truth about snakes is more fascinating than their myths in this educational and entertaining event.
