IFGI's scope reaches beyond the June festival. IFGI sponsors an educational outreach program, "Fiddlers in the Schools," "Fiddlers' on the Road," "Friends of the Fiddlers' Gathering," and offers a youth scholarship to the Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp.

Description The Recorder Program offers students 7-18 years old the opportunity to study recorder through individual lessons and group interaction with classically trained musicians. Each child will receive one private lesson per week, and may also choose to add one ensemble lesson per week. The teaching method is friendly and effective, with students playing after the first lesson. At the end of each semester the students will demonstrate their accomplishments by performing in one of the concert halls at the Jacobs School of Music. The Recorder Program is designed to establish a strong musical and technical foundation for playing and a lifetime of musical enjoyment. Students will master the fundamentals that allow them skills to perform several kinds of music, join a variety of ensembles or even pursue studies at the collegiate level.

Description Dr. Karen Taylor, Director of the Indiana University Piano Academy and Young Pianists Program, welcomes all prospective students and their families to the Young Pianists Program. The Young Pianists Program is open to any students, ages 5 through the end of high school, who enjoy music and want to learn to play the piano. Our talented faculty have extensive pre-college training and work with students in one-on-one lessons, either two 30-minute lessons or one 60-minute lesson per week. The curriculum is customized to serve everyone from serious pre-professionals to those who want to pursue piano as a hobby. All students play in a recital each semester.

From website: High energy, impeccable musicianship and sizzling soul- the IU Soul Revue delivers the sounds of timeless R&B, soul, funk and contemporary urban black popular music. Performances feature original compositions along with arrangements of works recorded by the likes of Stevie Wonder; Earth, Wind and Fire; Patti Labelle, Kelly Price, D'Angelo, Mary J. Blige, Eric Benet and more. The Revue is a full ensemble, featuring male and female lines, horns, rhythm section, at times augmented by strings and dancers.

Description From the website: Each year, the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival honors Lotus Dickey's memory with a set of music or an interactive workshop that introduces new audiences to his music and the old-time traditions of the United States.
