Description The mission of the Monroe County Master Gardener Association is to promote the art, science, and pleasure of gardening in the community in cooperation with the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service. Certified Master Gardeners have completed a broad based Horticulture volunteer training program as well as a minimum of 35 hours of volunteer service. Master Gardeners help others in the community grow by sharing their horticulture knowledge. Volunteers provide the community with information on gardening practices through workshops and presentations at garden clubs, school, and other community organizations. A Master Gardener training progarm is held annually by the Monroe County Office of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service. If you are interested in becoming a Master Gardener you can be added to the class notification list by calling 349-2575.

Description

On September 27, 1938, six women formed The Bloomington Garden Club. These six charter members had the following mission: to promote the knowledge and love of gardening; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, and birds; and to encourage civic planting and beautification.

Closed membership.

Members and participants must to be nominated to join.

Sponsors the Garden Walk annually and other civic garden projects. Minutes are stored at the Lilly Library.
